Women's Opportunity Week: Brenda Vickrey Johnson founded Women's Opportunity Week in conjunction with the Ford Motor Company & the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. The mission of the Women's Opportunity Week (WOW) Awards is to celebrate women business leaders who are making a difference in San Antonio and it raises scholarship dollars for young women. Each year, an unprecedented number of remarkable nominees are received, all of whom are courageous women who display strong integrity, enthusiasm, passion and determination. They continue to make a positive difference in our community and in the lives of the people they know. Over $50,000 has been raised in scholarship dollars for young women to go to college.

TSPE Engineer for a Day: Engineering firms in the San Antonio area sponsor high school students interested in engineering careers. The program allows the students to visit, observe, and ask questions of practicing engineers in their San Antonio offices. VICKREY participates in Engineer for a Day each year. VICKREY hosts young particpants at the office with several mentors encouraging futures in egineering and surveying. 

MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide program that promotes math excellence for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and combines the efforts of the education, business, government and the technological communities. It is a math skills coaching program based on higher thinking skills development with a series of progressive competitions at local, state and national levels. It motivates students to do well in math and recognizes and rewards them for achievement. The program also gives the math teachers an incentive to excel in their classrooms.  www.mathcounts.org

Boy Scouts of America: We are pleased to contribute to the Boy Scouts of America’s goal of providing educational activities for local youth. Our surveying department hosts groups of Scouts in our office to introduce them to the world of land surveying and its important contribution to building our city’s critical infrastructure. The Scouts meet with our survey department manager, and a RPLS and professional engineer to learn about measuring property lines, looking for property corners, and using survey instruments.

A.C.E. Mentoring: A.C.E. is a unique partnership among industry professionals–architects, interior designers, engineers, construction managers, college and university representatives, and other professionals. The program's mission is to enlighten and increase the awareness of high school students to career opportunities in the A/E/C and related areas of the design and construction industry through mentoring and to provide scholarship opportunities for students in an inclusive manner reflective of the diverse school population.  www.acementor.org/

CREW Careers: VICKREY is proud to support CREW Careers™, a program designed to introduce young women to the many career opportunities available to them in commercial real estate and related industries. CREW Network chapters present programs locally, using one or more local real estate projects to illustrate all types of careers opportunities. These programs are delivered in cooperation with a local college campuses, girl's group such as Girls Inc. or Girl Scouts or with high schools. Launched in 2005, CREW Careers™ has since been implemented in 31 chapters, reaching nearly 3,000 girls and engaging over 2,400 CREW members.
